• Andrea Spangler ME.d, RD, CSP, Pediatric Nutrition Specialist

    Andrea Spangler (she/her) obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from Mansfield University of PA in 2006. She successfully completed her dietetic internship at University of Virginia in 2007. 

    After 2 years of employment at the University of Virginia Health System, Andrea moved to Richmond Virginia, began working at higher levels of care for eating disorders and earned her Certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition. Since 2010, she has worked exclusively with inpatient pediatrics at VCU Health System. 

    Andrea earned her Master’s of Education in Nutrition Education from Framingham State University in 2015. She has since transitioned to outpatient care at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond with VCU Health. She cares for a variety of patients from birth to 20 years. She has expertise in pediatric growth and development as well as nutrition assessment and identifying malnutrition. 

    Andrea has a passion for providing nutrition counseling and education to patients and their families or support systems, to include but not limited to, normalization in eating, having a positive relationship with food from purchasing to preparing and consuming to support health, growth, and development.
