Julie Guild, MSW, LCSW Founder & Clinic Director, Certified Family Based Therapist

Julie Guild (Samitt) (she/her) is Co-Founder and Director of CEDAR. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Adjunct Professor who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders.


Julie received her Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University and her Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is the only Therapist in Richmond and the surrounding area, Certified in Family Based Treatment (FBT) through The Institute of Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders. Julie has worked in Partial Hospitalization, Intensive and Outpatient levels of care for eating disorders including locally, at Veritas Collaborative as the Family Program Coordinator.


During her career Julie has worked with adherent treatment models, specifically Family Based Treatment (FBT), formerly the Maudsley Method from the Maudsley Hospital in London and Cognitive Behavior Therapy Enhanced for Eating Disorders (CBT-E). Julie also has extensive training in Structural Family Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT). She teaches Clinical Social Work Practice in the Graduate MSW program at VCU and is a registered supervisor in Virginia for LCSW.
