Martha Danielson, Family Mentor

Martha Danielson (she/her) and her husband Matt are the parents of two amazing adult children. She became very passionate about eating disorders when her daughter struggled in high school and was diagnosed with anorexia. She, along with her family, saw her daughter through treatment and into recovery. Martha realizes first hand the struggle it places on the entire family when a child receives an eating disorder diagnosis. That passion is what brought her to Richmond Center for Eating Disorders. Her hope is to mentor families going through treatment and to assure them that they are not alone in the process and that recovery is possible for their child.

Martha and her family have a long and important history with Julie G and Julie K as their family received stepped down care in a team approach as they were navigating recovery.

Martha also has a great interest in assisting families whose children may identify as gender nonconforming and/or are considering a gender transition. Martha and Matt’s son successfully navigated this transition in high school, giving her a wealth of knowledge and resources to share with the RCED community.
